The first day of my Icelandic unicycle-backpack trip began at the small town of Vík and then proceeded through hitchhiking cars, paved roads, and gravel roads to ultimately end at a wild campsite nestled in the bends of a beautiful Icelandic river. In July of 2017, I embarked on a 6-day mountain unicycle/trekking trip through a series of gravel roads and then on the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls hiking trails. In July of 2017, I completed a 150-km backpacking trip with my mountain unicycle through gravel roads and over the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls hiking trails. The hiking trails were by no means remote, so I often encountered surprise, disbelief, and even some scepticism. “But why do it on a unicycle!?” My exact responses varied, but the core idea was the same: I had planned the trip to challenge myself. Early last December, I traveled to London for a long-promised unicycling weekend with “the lads” and Meg.
